Course Description:


Introduction to statistical models and methods for survival data analysis and reliability including non-parametric and parametric models for life time data, regression models, parametric, semi-parametric, and non-parametric inference for survival data, and system reliability.

 

Prerequisite: STAT-281 or STAT-381 or permission of the instructor.

 

Course Content:

·        Survival data and censoring

·        Survival distributions

·        Estimation of survival functions

·        Comparison of survival probabilities

·        Regression models for survival data

·        Cox proportional hazard models

·        Reliability and risk models

 

Required textbook:
Statistical Methods for Survival Data Analysis, Third edition, by Elisa T. Lee, John Wenyu Wang, Wiley 2003. ISBN: 0-471-36997-7. The course will focus on Chapter 1-7, 11-12.

 

Class attendance policy:

      Class attendance is highly encouraged but not mandatory.

 

Grading Policy:

  • Homework  → 40 PTS
  • Mid Term    → 30 PTS
  • Final Exam  → 30 PTS
  • Total Grade  → 100 PTS

Grading Scale: 90-100 → A, 80-89 → B, 70-79 → C,  60-69 → D,  0-59 → F
