Course Syllabus

 

Course Description
This course is designed to introduce students to the 6 dimensions of wellness. The course will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to make informed decisions, which will lead to the development of a healthy lifestyle. Issues related to the dimensions of wellness will be discussed through lectures and laboratory activities. Students will have the opportunity to assess their current health status and identify potential risk factors. In addition, WEL 100 satisfies the personal stewardship goal of the Institutional Graduation Requirements for South Dakota State University. 

Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: 

  1. Identify various dimensions of wellness. 
  2. Discuss their current health status and be able to identify potential risk factors. 
  3. Identify strategies that will promote a healthy lifestyle.
